Ghostwire: Tokyo Coming to Xbox in April Alongside Major Update

Ghostwire: Tokyo’s PlayStation console exclusivity is ending as developer Tango Gameworks has announced the game will hit Xbox Series X|S and Game Pass on April 12.

A major free update for Ghostwire: Tokyo, called the Spider’s Thread update, will be released on the same day for all users (on PS5, Xbox, and PC) and adds a new game mode, extended story cutscenes, new areas, and more.

The Spider’s Thread game mode puts players through a gauntlet of 30 stages, pulled from a selection of 120 hand-crafted levels, with the sole goal of reaching the end. Progressing through the levels lets the player earn in-game money, unlock more skills, and gain upgrades.

New parts of Ghostwire: Tokyo’s map are also being opened up, headlined by the local Middle School area, and each new location comes with new missions and mysterious to uncover.

A variety of new enemies are also being added to the game including the invisible Silent Gaze and elusive Retribution, and players can unlock new skills designed to counter the spooky beasties.

Tango Gameworks has also promised that the Spider’s Thread update will come with a variety of quality of life improvements to make players’ journeys through the haunted version of Tokyo a little smoother.

In our 7/10 review of the base game, IGN said: “With superb visual design and an incredibly well-realised rendition of Tokyo, Ghostwire gets a lot right, but just doesn't quite have the gameplay chops to push it over the top.”
