EA Reiterates a 'Major' Game Will Be Released Before April 2023 and It May Just Be Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

EA has reiterated that a game the company is describing as a "Major IP" will be released before March 31, 2023, and it just may or may not be Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. On Page 10 of EA's Q2 FY 2023 Results slideshow, EA lists the games it is expecting to release before the end of its Fiscal Year 2023 on March 31, 2023. While there are many games we've already learned about in its Q4 list, including the Dead Space Remake, PGA Tour, Super Mega Baseball, and Wild Hearts, there is one game listed only as "Major IP" that is quite notable. Atomic Heart Release Date Revealed

An explosive new trailer for Atomic Heart has revealed that the first-person action RPG will be released on February 21, 2023. The new trailer for Atomic Heart showcases its blood-pumping, fast-paced gameplay, and reveals a release date for the Soviet-era shooter. EA Says Marvel Deal Driven By Success With Star Wars

During EA's Q2 2023 earnings call, the company addressed the recent deal with Marvel and how the decision to enter into another partnership with Disney was driven by the success from the company's previous deal with Star Wars. During the call, EA was asked if it could offer more details about the recently announced deal with Marvel that will see EA work on three Marvel games starting with EA Motive's Iron Man game. While EA declined to go into that much more detail, the company said that it is seeking to be a "cooperative" and creative partnership rather than a "transactional" one. FIFA 23 will be getting its free FIFA World Cup 2022 update on November 9, 2022, and will bring with it the teams of the 32 qualified nations into an authentic experience. Remedy Provides Updates on Alan Wake 2, Its Control Spin-off, and More

Alan Wake and Control developer Remedy has five games in development, and the studio shared minor updates on each one through a recent business release. Remedy CEO Tero Virtala said Alan Wake 2 is in the "full production stage", and that it's still on track to release in 2023. Virtala said the "game is coming together on all fronts", but there is a lot of work left to do. Embracer Group Shutting Down Onoma, the Studio it Acquired Just Months Ago

The Embracer Group is shutting down Onoma just months after its acquisition, with some staff set to be transferred to sister studio Eidos Montreal, Bloomberg reports. Formerly known as Square Enix Montreal, Onoma was acquired along with the rest of Square Enix's former western holdings back in August. It subsequently took on the name Onoma back in October. According to Bloomberg, the move is likely a cost-cutting measure, as Eidos Montreal is reportedly reducing the scope of one project and plans to cancel another. Naughty Dog Announces The Last of Us Tabletop Game

The Last of Us is the next video game to get its own board game adaptation. Naughty Dog has announced a partnership with Themeborne — creators of the Escape the Dark series — to create a tabletop game titled The Last of Us: Escape the Dark. Escape the Dark is a series of cooperative board games featuring black and white illustrated chapter cards that players work to solve together. Overwatch 2: Blizzard Removes Another Hero Due to Bugs

Blizzard has announced that it is temporarily removing Overwatch 2 hero Mei from the game due to a bug. The character is expected to return to the game alongside the next patch, which is due out on November 15. "We are temporarily disabling Mei to address a bug with her Ice Wall ability that allows heroes to reach unintended locations," Blizzard stated in a tweet from its customer service account. Video game industry veteran Cliff "CliffyB" Bleszinski has admitted he had an intense rivalry with id Software co-founder and Doom co-creator John Romero in the 1990s when he was working at Epic Games. God of War Sales Pass 23 Million Copies

PlayStation and Santa Monica Studio’s critically acclaimed God of War (2018) has now sold more than 23 million copies to date, according to the latest Sony earnings report. The new sales figure is up from the 19.5 million copies sold as of October 2021, with the increase likely owed in part to the PC version of God of War being released earlier this year, that saw Sony's biggest launch on the platform to date. IKEA Sends Cease and Desist to Indie Dev Making Furniture Store Survival Game

Ikea has sent a cease and desist letter to the developer of The Store is Closed, an indie survival game about spending the night in a furniture store. As reported by Kotaku, lawyers representing Ikea have accused solo developer Jacob Shaw of committing trademark infringement and have given him ten days to change parts of his game that allegedly represent Ikea branding. This includes a blue and yellow sign, a Scandinavian name (STYR), yellow vertical striped shirts, a grey path on the floor, and some furniture.
