Venture Gameplay Trailer Reveals Overwatch 2's Newest Hero Along With When They'll be Playable

Overwatch 2's 40th hero, Venture, will be playable for a limited-time trial running from March 28 through March 31.

Venture, Overwatch 2's first nonbinary character, is a damage hero. Although we got a peak at some early gameplay matches with Venture at Blizzcon 2023, Blizzard gave players a closer look at some of Venture's unique abilities in an all-new gameplay trailer as well as a stinger tease for an updated Temple of Anubis map.

Venture's drill-like gun allows them to traverse underneath the map (with apparent invulnerability) and damage enemies once they emerge from their burrows. Another ability of theirs, Drill Dash, thrusts them forward into the air. Likewise, Smart Excavator shoots out an explosive artillery.

Venture's ultimate ability, Tetonic Shock, as its name would suggest, delivers an explosive ripple area of effect similar to Reinhardt's Earthshatter. All in all, Venture is shaping up to be a hero that'll knowledge-check veteran players' familiarity with Overwatch 2's maps and will likely be a support heroes' worst nightmare.

Venture was first revealed last year at Blizzcon 2023 alongside character designs for another upcoming healer named Space Ranger. At Blizzcon, the Overwatch team revealed that Venture is the game's second Canadian hero (the other being Sojourn). The team also revealed that Venture is an archaeologist in their civilian life. While little is known about how Overwatch 2's 41's hero Space Ranger will play, the support character is slated to arrive in Season 12 of Overwatch 2.

In the meantime, once Venture is officially released, stalwart Overwatch 2 players can try them out without purchasing a battle pass thanks to Blizzard's Season 10 unlockable heroes change.
